With shows like Love & Hip Hop (any city) glorifying the “side chick” and “side d!$%”, one may believe this is a new trend. Long before reality tv (and before SZA decided to have custody of her man on weekends), R&B put hoes on pedestals. I compiled a list of hits that attempted to show paramours as innocent misunderstood beings. They also happen to be some of my favorite songs.
